Contributor to the Treasurer Test, Pieter de Kiewit (Founder & Owner of Treasurer Search), explains in this article how the Treasurer Test adds value to a usual calibration meeting.
The original thought behind this online assessment stems purely from selecting the right candidate for the treasurer position, based on the fact that not everyone working in treasury has completed a dedicated treasury course or the right treasury knowledge. So how do you know if the candidate you hire is the right one?
Over time, the applications of the Test have expanded beyond recruitment purposes. Entire treasury teams took the assessment tool, and consultants were able to design treasury departments based on the clear visualizations of the treasury skills and personality traits that are shown in the report. In all of these cases, Tests have been acquired by employers.
Increasingly, we find that employees come to us, also in career calibration meetings with various questions like:
- How am I doing in comparison to others in the treasury labour market?
- I am considering investing in a treasury training program, which one is the best fit for me?
- Do I have the personality type that matches people management tasks?
With objective measurement through the Treasurer Test, combined with an extensive (telephone) meeting, these types of questions can be addressed even better than with a normal career calibration meeting. Both Kim and I are trained in the interpretation of the result report, the technical as well as the Big5 personality part. Together, we can discuss your path forward.
We know that the price of the Test for personal use is considered relatively high. For employers that makes sense: hiring the wrong candidate causes substantial higher costs. Together with team treasuryXL, we decided that in many career calibration situations we can work with a substantial discount.
So what does this look like?
In addition to the candidate receiving the results of the test, Team Treasurer Search will also receive the Test results. With their know-how in interpreting the results of the Test, they will discuss these with you and will go looking for the best match for your next job in Treasury. They are first and foremost search consultants, not career counselors. If you want to know more, just let me know. We are happy to inform you further.
